This tool converts text to Pig Latin, e.g. "Hello world" becomes "Ellohay orldway".

Type any English text to translate it into Pig Latin — the classic word game where consonant-initial words move their leading consonants to the end and add "ay", while vowel-initial words just add "way".

A word starting with a consonant cluster, like "hello," moves that entire leading cluster to the end and appends "ay" — turning it into "ellohay" — while a word already starting with a vowel, like "apple," simply appends "way" to become "appleway." Capitalization and punctuation are preserved through the translation, so a properly capitalized sentence still reads as a properly capitalized (if nonsensical-looking) Pig Latin sentence, which is part of what makes this fun for kids' word games, secret-language novelty, and language-pattern classroom exercises.

  • Consonant-initial words: move the leading consonant cluster to the end and add "ay" — e.g. "hello" → "ellohay", "fun" → "unfay".
  • Vowel-initial words: just add "way" — e.g. "apple" → "appleway".
  • Capitalization and punctuation are preserved — a capitalized word stays capitalized in its translated form, and trailing punctuation stays attached.

Is Pig Latin a real language?

No — it's a playful, informal word game/language game popular in English-speaking countries, not a real constructed or natural language.

Does this handle punctuation correctly?

Yes — trailing punctuation like commas, periods, and exclamation marks stay attached to the translated word.
