An anagram is a word or phrase built from exactly the same letters as another, just rearranged into a different order — "listen" and "silent" are a classic example. Enter two words or phrases here and this calculator strips out spaces and punctuation, sorts the remaining letters, and checks whether they match exactly. It works for multi-word phrases as well as single words, making it useful for word games, puzzle-solving, or just settling an argument about whether two phrases really are anagrams of each other.
- How it works: both inputs are lowercased, non-letter/number characters are stripped, and the remaining letters are sorted — if the sorted results match, they're anagrams.
- Spaces and punctuation are ignored, so multi-word phrases can be checked too (e.g. "dormitory" and "dirty room" are a classic anagram pair).
- Case doesn't matter — "Listen" and "SILENT" are still correctly identified as anagrams.
