Acronym Generator

This tool generates an acronym, e.g. "As Soon As Possible" becomes "ASAP".

Type any multi-word phrase to generate its acronym — the first letter of each word, capitalized, exactly how well-known acronyms like NATO or ASAP are formed.

The rule is simple and mechanical: take the first letter of every word in the phrase and uppercase it, the same way "North Atlantic Treaty Organization" becomes "NATO." Real-world acronyms don't always follow this rule perfectly — many deliberately skip short connector words like "of" or "the" to make the result more pronounceable or memorable — so treat the generated acronym as a solid starting point for naming a project, organization, or process, and feel free to trim connector-word letters by hand if the strict version doesn't read well.

  • Formula: takes the first letter of every word in the phrase and uppercases it.
  • Example: "North Atlantic Treaty Organization" → "NATO".
  • Note: this includes every word's first letter, including short connector words like "of" or "the" — some real-world acronyms deliberately skip these, so you may want to remove such words from your input first if you want a shorter result.

Does this skip small words like "the" or "of"?

No — every word's first letter is included; if you want to exclude connector words, remove them from your input phrase before generating.

Can I use this for company or project names?

Yes — it works for any phrase, making it a quick way to brainstorm potential acronyms for project or product names.
