Sudoku Puzzle Generator
Pick a difficulty level to get a fresh, fully playable 9x9 Sudoku board. The starter clues are locked in place — just click a blank cell and type a number from 1 to 9. Use Check to see which of your entries are right, Hint to reveal one more cell when you're stuck, or New Puzzle to start over with a completely different board.
- Play directly on the board: click any blank cell and type a digit 1-9 — the given clues are locked and shown in a different color so you always know what you added yourself.
- Difficulty controls how many clues you start with: Easy leaves the most starting numbers filled in, Hard leaves the fewest — the underlying solving logic doesn't change, only how much of the grid is already given.
- Check and Hint help you learn: Check marks every filled cell green (correct) or red (wrong) without giving anything away, while Hint fills in one correct cell for you if you're stuck — your hint count is tracked at the bottom of the board.
How do I know which cells I filled in myself?
The starting clues are shown in a locked, shaded cell that you can't edit — anything you type appears in a plain cell, and turns green or red only after you press Check.
Does using a hint count against me?
There's no scoring or timer, so a hint is simply a way to get unstuck — the board keeps a running count of how many hints you've used on the current puzzle so you can track how much help you needed.
